Summary

In this incredible sequel to Pandora's Star, the Commonwealth Saga goes out with a bang. Judas Unchained is a stunning, expansive space opera from one of the world's bestselling science fiction writers, Peter F. Hamilton.

Our worlds are under invasion – and only the impossible can save us now . . .

Over hundreds of years, the human race has been manipulated into starting a war. And it's one that could destroy our entire civilization. Chief Investigator Paula Myo is nominated to hunt the creature behind this ploy, while our invasion continues and multiple worlds fall to the enemy. In response, Admiral Kime commands humanity's defense, marshaling war-ready super-weapons. Yet he discovers his adversaries wield equally powerful armaments.

The question is – where did these come from? Has the Commonwealth's top-secret defense project been compromised, or is the truth even worse than we can imagine?

The Commonwealth Saga duology starts with Pandora's Star.

This is a much poorer book than the first in the series, not the story but the narration. John Lee seems to have forgotten how to change his voice, it's hard to know which character is talking or if indeed it's just narration, and the voices he created for the first book seem to have gone.

These books were made for a full cast audio and whilst the first book was ok in the narration dept this one is sometimes a struggle.

Difficult narration

Listening to this second book it feels like the first book "Pandora's star" was just a big, big introduction. In this book the action starts at last and the story picks ups the pace incredibly. Now it is the action novel I expected from the beginning. All the loose ends come together, every single detail from the first book turns out to be critical in the second.... It is amazing that way! It is like training with boring exercises how to best get up the mountain and then finally get to the real thing enjoying it the most exactly because you did all that training and it goes so smoothly without a hitch...!

So - the main thing! --> If you read the first book and you are afraid that the second will be the same - don't be! The second book at last gives you the satisfaction you were waiting for in the first one! You NEED to listen to it if you've listened to the first..! So that what you've gone through wouldn't have been for nothing! Details are still there but I enjoyed the second book much, much more!

As it is so detailed, the satisfactory thing is the ending - it's fulfilling, not like some other books where you feel left hanging or the ending is left to your own imagination. A very good ending.

The narrator still manages to speak without a pause between two different character stories like intentionally trying to mess you up, but this time I was better at distinguishing his tricks...! :P In any other aspect he's a good narrator.

Better than the 1st book!

This is a great book. Just like the one the preceded it If not better. I like this narrator and would continue to listen to these books through him. **Just be warned that the quality of this recording is terrible. Not what I expect from audible. It’s very soft so you have to make it very loud. It also sounds like there was quiet a lot of post editing. Narration volume changes. Sometimes even sounding like a different person or the narrator having a bad cold.

Great story. Bad sound quality.

Really enjoyed it, overall narration was great... But Tiger Pansy's squeaky narration was a bit grating

A great conclusion to an epic space opera
