Summary

Following the death of her bullying husband, Etta Bancroft's selfish children move her to a village in the Cotswolds. One night, she discovers a filly, left to die in the snow. With help, Etta rescues the horse, and she and her friends form a syndicate to pay for her upkeep. As the horse recovers, she begins to show racing pedigree, so the syndicate enters her into a maiden hurdle - and are shocked at the result.

Having greatly enjoyed the unabridged version of one of my old favourites Jilly Cooper's 'Riders' I was delighted to see her latest novel available by the same excellent narrator just before my holiday. It didn't disappoint - some great new characters and plenty of old ones and a brilliant story line - an ideal holiday companion. If you enjoyed 'Riders' I would highly recommend you buy this. Now we just need the rest of the unabridged Jilly back catalogue to come to Audible - 'Rivals' for starters please !

If you enjoyed "Riders" buy this !

Where does Jump! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Jump was a joy to listen to, I felt completely captivated by all the characters and relished how long it was. The moment finished it I listened to it another 2 times back to back!

What other book might you compare Jump! to, and why?

Jilly Cooper novels have there own particular style so I'm not sure what other novel I'd compare it to. It provides a great insight into high and rural society which is extremely captivating.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I enjoyed the scenes at the races and the scenes with Valent and Eta chatting together.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending is amazing.

Any additional comments?

perfecto!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the story, it was typically Jilly Cooper - laughter, tears and a happy ending.

What didn’t you like about Gerri Halligan’s performance?

The narration was rather flat. She didn't seem to engage with the story.

Could you see Jump! being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

Possibly.

Any additional comments?

This story doesn't have the depth of earlier Jilly Cooper books but it's a good, entertaining read.

Disappointing narration

I loved everything about this book. It was great to read a 'chick lit' which didn't involve a stunning twenty something lamenting being left on the shelf.
I read Riders many moons ago and really enjoyed it. But I have subsequently being disappointed by Jilly Cooper. I therefore bought this book with no great expectations, and was rather suprised to find I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
