Summary

When her father died, Lucy Mae Estmond inherited the family business. She has known all of her life that she will be in line to watch over the souls of the recently passed, keeping them safe from the Reapers.

The soul eating Reapers have been a plague upon the Earth, stealing souls and leaving the Keepers as the only thing that stands between heaven and hell. The factions despise each other and have warred for generations.

Then Lucy discovers an ancient legend predicting the arrival of the Chosen One, destined to bring forth an end to the Reapers. The surprises continue when she realizes she is that person. For Lucy, being the Chosen One doesn't change much. Fighting Reapers is just another day in the life of a Keeper.

When she meets Jack Walker, they both realize they have an insane, mutual attraction. Too bad that he's been sent to prevent the prophecy from coming true. His only mission: to kill the Chosen One.

What a great story! I absolutely loved Lucy, who, apparently has no filter. Her vibrancy jumps off the page and drags you along for the ride - willing or no!
Although Jack is supposed to be the bad guy, he is never presented as such and it doesn't take long to like him. Jack's tormented life will make you sympathetic to his extra-curricular activities.
His desire for Lucy is much more consuming in so far as she can continue with her life almost as always.
I felt sorry for Aiden and hope he gets a better deal in a future book.
With so many characters I had wished the narrator was able to differentiate more between them, but you het used to it.
Definitely a MUST!

This story was phenomenally written, I love a well written fantasy story & it hit all the right spots.

A prophecy, forbidden attraction, Enemies turned lovers, crazy but lovable family, & a hopeful ending❤

p.s. the ending kept me wanting more, it's good I've read the series😏

Lucy (a keeper) has just lost her Father when Jack (a reaper) show up. He has a job to do an it's killing the chosen one Lucy.
This is a great listen. Lucy has big shoes to fill with her father's death, her brothers and sisters are close and rally round to keep her safe.
This is a great listen. I look forward to reading and listening to more in this series.
