Summary
Felix Sylvian is a charming, silken-tongued dilettante; he has the sex appeal of a schoolgirl's daydream and the soul of a poet. But he has one nasty habit he can't seem to break – a sadistic tendency to ride roughshod over any girl foolish enough to fall for him.
Saskia Seaton is Felix's latest victim. Once a beautiful, precocious aspiring actress, she is now a suicidal wreck after a whirlwind affair with Felix and a force-ten finale. Retreating to lick her wounded pride, she decides she wants poetic justice. And her friend Phoebe's the one to get it.
With Saskia's help, Phoebe will become Felix's dream woman. She will pursue him across his London playground and seduce him until he falls in love with her. Then she'll drop him just as he has so many women in the past.
But Phoebe doesn't realise that when she tries to break Felix's nasty habit, she'll find herself breaking her own heart...

Phoebe “Freddie” Fredericks is a 20 something hot mess. She’s unashamedly a bit of a slob, admits herself she pretty much directionless, can’t keep a job, is terribly in debt, and really just wants to be loved. Her and an old school chum (and I use the word chum deliberately) embark on a plot to take revenge on Felix Sylvian, who broke off his engagement to the school chum, hurting her very badly. Of course things go awry. Phoebe struggles to stay in character or stick to the script, when faced with the delectable Felix; she can’t even remember what she’s supposed to be called. Felix is rakish, waspish, sometimes cruel, but underneath it all terribly needy and he too just wants to be loved. Of course nothing is what it seems, secrets bubble under the surface, and there are forces at play behind the scenes who do not want the best for either Phoebe or Felix.
This is a caper, a farce, involving many delightful, if not altogether likeable characters. It’s set in 1990s London, the cast of characters being high on life, and low on funds and morals. If you are looking for gritty, realistic and politically correct then this is not the book for you. If however you are looking for nostalgia, fun, a large cast of characters and some lightness then this is possibly the book for you. The first third is a bit slow as the author sets everything up, but once Felix comes into the picture it really races along.
Narration was great, although Fliss sounded more Yorkshire than Manc, the rest of the voices were great.
Nostalgic perfection
