About this listen
"I shall burn thee with blistering heat and with bitter destruction. I will send the teeth of beasts upon thee, with the poison of serpents of the dust..."

That said, while the story itself is perfectly fine, this is an Audiobook which by the nature of the medium relies to a fair extent on its narrator. The narrator in question comes across as, perhaps, a touch inexperienced. A lot of random pauses that would typically signify suspense that then have no payoff. Character accents feel forced and inconsistent, sometimes a character speaking sounds entirely different by the end of a paragraph when compared to the beginning of it. Leaving the accents out would have, in my opinion, been an improvement. A fair few mispronounced words here and there as well. Which is not to say that it was an altogether negative listening experience as the narrator to his credit has an otherwise very pleasant storytelling voice.
All in all, I do not regret my purchase of the story as someone with an appreciation for the narratives that laid the foundation for the Forgotten Realms setting, but will add that enjoyment of the tale likely hinges to an extent on a listener sharing in that particular brand of nostalgia.
Worth the listen, but with mixed feelings.
