About this listen

Cuba, 1958. Elisa is only 16 years old when she meets Duardo, and she knows he's the love of her life from the moment they first dance the rumba together in downtown Havana. But Duardo is a rebel determined to fight in Castro's army, and Elisa is forced to leave behind her homeland and rebuild her life in distant England. But how can she stop longing for the warmth of Havana when the music of the rumba still calls to her?

England, 2012. Grace has a troubled relationship with her father, whom she blames for her beloved mother's untimely death. And this year more than ever she could do with a shoulder to cry on - Grace's career is in flux, she isn't sure she wants the baby her husband is so desperate to have and, worst of all, she's begun to develop feelings for their best friend, Theo.

Theo is a Cuban-born magician, but even he can't make Grace's problems disappear. Is the passion Grace feels for Theo enough to risk her family's happiness?

From best-selling author Rosanna Ley comes an exotic tale of love, family and friendship set between England and Cuba.

storyline with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Excellent reader. May just have been me but I felt it was a little slow to get into. Enjoyed getting lost in the story. Great storytelling. Thank you.

Enjoyable and Relaxing

The narrator almost spoiled this for me with the irritating and constant pauses in the wrong places, plus some strange 'male' voices. A shame as the story and characters are interesting and appealing. Having visited Cuba I enjoyed the descriptions and hearing more of the history of the island.- and felt a little peeves at not having travelled around enough to experience some of the places the story took me to. I've enjoyed all of Rosanna Ley's books that I've heard so far and I'm glad I didn't let the narrator's delivery put me off finishing this one

A bit mixed

the accents were terrible and all the m3n sounded as though they had difficulty breathing and were about 100 years old, so frustrating as you couldn't get their characters
