Summary

DCI Matilda Darke is back. And it might be her most personal case yet.

‘Matilda Darke is the perfect heroine’ Elly Griffiths

FIVE PERFECT MURDERS

DCI Matilda Darke receives an anonymous email from someone claiming to have committed the perfect murder. Experience tells her this isn’t possible, but as she investigates, she discovers a killer questioning everything she’s ever known.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

Now, Matilda is on the trail of a murderer who targets the most vulnerable people in society. Apart from ‘With Sympathy…’ cards, hand delivered to the family of his victims, he leaves no trace of his crimes.

A KILLER’S DEADLY GAME

As the threat escalates, and those closest to Matilda are targeted, she finds herself isolated and alone in bringing down her opponent before it’s game over. After all, there can only be one winner in this game of cat-and-mouse, and the clock is ticking…

This is book is gripping in the way that all the books in this series are but the amount of tragedy that happens to the same individuals is starting to feel a bit unrealistic and repetitive. I don’t know what’s wrong with a story about characters who are outside the police team to give the main characters a bit of a break!

Starting to get a bit same-y

I eagerly awaited my book and it didn’t disappoint, having read all books I can never wait for the next installment.. the down side is I wanted to hear more about adele and what came next but there seemed a void from the last book to this one which eventually filled you in.
But for me that was really the only disappointment! As always the author kept us trying to guess all the way throughout and then left us hanging!
Please write the next one soon….

Epic twist

I was on tenterhooks for the whole book. Michael Wood has delivered another blinder. Had absolutely no idea who the killer was until the big reveal. i was jumping between 3 or 4 characters for the killer throughout. Also brilliantly performed once again - each character totally distinctive and recognisable. It's a shame I can only award 5 stars

Wow, just Wow.
