About this listen

In 1930s London, Victor Frankenstein, working alongside a grown up Peter and Wendy, has created a device that can open a portal to Neverland. However, when it is activated the evil and magical daughter of Captain Hook steps through and starts wreaking havoc on the city. Victor must bring together a team of heroes including vampire hunter Barbara Van Helsing and her sidekick Alice, expert treasure hunter John Roxton and warrior fairy Tinker Bell. Only together can they defeat Hook and her malicious army of pirates from another dimension.

An intriguing premise which very obviously was inspired by The League of Extraordinary Gentleman by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill. Overlooking the anachronistic nature of Victor Frankenstein being alive in 1930s London (Shelley's Frankenstein was set in the late 1700s) the rest of the fictional characters featured seem to be on point. The plot itself is great fun with some entertaining sequences dotted throughout. But alas, Rick Bush desperately needs a dedicated proof reader and editor to revise this work as there are numerous repetitions or redundant words interrupting the flow of the narrative.

David Nagel's narration is clear and easily understood but as I stated the prose itself doesn't flow smoothly and so makes difficult reading for anyone.

Flawed but filled with potential

I normally find it hard to finish an audiobook as I get bored as soon as I start listening to one. But I throughly enjoyed this one. First one I've listened to from start to finish. David has an easy voice to listen to and really does well with voicing the characters. The story got really interesting and I found myself drawn into the story. Couldn't wait to start listening to it again to find out what happens next. I would definitely recommend this audiobook if you like fun and adventure.

Interesting story and totally worth listening to
