Critic reviews

Review of Paul Noble Method by The City Magazine:

“Relaxing and listening to the CDs, I found that I seemed to absorb the phrases taught, without even consciously trying, and quickly felt confident enough to play around with the different components and make my own sentences.”

Reviews of Paul Noble’s Language Institute courses:

“I'm utterly amazed by it. I can't recommend it highly enough."

“Really brilliant. It’s changed everything.”

“Simply amazing. I would recommend Paul Noble to anyone and everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or you have a basic working knowledge already."

“It was so relaxing. It was the first time I've ever tried studying a language where I didn't feel stressed at all. It was just what I needed – and probably what everyone else needs too. It just made the language seem so simple and easy to learn."

I knew hardly a word of German when I took lessons one and two but now feel I have a good basic grasp of the language and I'm looking forward to trying to speak when I visit Germany soon. Paul Noble is a wonderful teacher and his German assistant spoke clearly and beautifully. I can't wait to begin lesson 3. My only disappointment is that the course doesn't continue after that.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it and other people on my German course are also using this series as extra material.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a very long listen for the price. Basics and different method to what most courses will use. Let's you practice while commuting or doing the housework so you can squeeze some extra in when your brain would otherwise be inactive.

What does Paul Noble bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Paul's audiobook is clearly designed to be used as an audio tool and is not an adaptation of a text book. The teaching methodology is based on hearing and speaking. The accompanying text file is supplementary material the audio is stand alone.

Any additional comments?

Book 1 and Book 2 are good if you have nearly no knowledge of the language. (Also a good refresher if you did the most basic level and are heading back to study and need a refresher).

A lot of listening for the price

Would you try another book written by Paul Noble or narrated by Paul Noble?

I would be nervous of purchasing any more from Paul Noble unless I could establish that I was going to learn something new.

Would you ever listen to anything by Paul Noble again?

His teaching method is sound, if a tad basic and slow. I have polished up my French and started German from scratch with him. You do need to top up with learning vocab from other sources, however. But he does explain basic grammar well.

What about Paul Noble’s performance did you like?

Unlike other language courses, he doesn't overwhelm you with 20 news words a minute, 98% of which you are likely to forget.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really, no. Part one was excellent, but this is a big disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Don't waste your money on this - there is absolutely nothing in it that isn't covered in his part one of learning German, in fact part one will take you further. I listened to the entire book thinking "yes, yes, we've done all this, bring on the new stuff" but it just never came.... this would be better entitled 'Paul Noble Revision book to Part One'

Nothing new compared to part one
