Summary

The 2nd book in the Gaslighting Recovery series by Annette Smith

You made it out. Now what? Leaving a gaslighting relationship is huge, but nobody talks enough about what comes next. The first 90 days after manipulation can feel like emotional whiplash: one moment you’re celebrating freedom, the next you’re second-guessing your memories.

Life After Gaslighting: 90 Days to Healing, Boundaries, and Emotional Freedom After Manipulation and Mental Abuse is your no-nonsense, heart-to-heart recovery guide. Think of it as a warm hug, a pep talk, and a gentle kick in the pants, all rolled into one.

With humor, warmth, and zero judgment, this book gives you the tools to:

  • Heal from emotional abuse and manipulation without feeling like you have to “reinvent yourself” overnight.
  • Set boundaries without guilt, and keep them, even with "boundary testers."
  • Rebuild self-trust so you no longer need anyone else’s approval to believe your own reality.
  • Overcome triggers with simple grounding tools that work in the moment.
  • Rediscover joy through small, confidence-building steps that actually stick.

Whether you’re recovering from narcissistic abuse, healing after emotional manipulation, or simply figuring out how to trust yourself again, this 90-day roadmap will help you reclaim your peace and protect it fiercely.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Relatable real-life stories so you feel less alone.
  • Practical exercises for emotional recovery and self-trust.
  • Gentle, encouraging reminders for the days that feel like “just staring at dirt."

You don’t need to go back to who you were before—you get to become someone stronger, freer, and fully in control of your own story. Your healing starts now. And this time, you hold the pen.

This is a good follow-up to book one. It walks through the emotional cloud that comes after gaslighting and gives you useful tips to steady yourself again. I like how it mixes reflection with small, doable steps that help rebuild confidence and set boundaries without feeling guilty. Quinn’s narration keeps things calm and steady, making the heavier parts a little easier to take in. Overall, it’s a supportive guide that will leave you with tools you can actually use in real life.

So this book just confirmed to me that first I was a victim of gaslighting after being accused of being one. 4 possibly 5 years after a breakup and thinking that I was the cause this book confirmed to me I was the victim and it took almost 3 years to get over it. I went through all the steps, ended up cutting off some family, acquaintances and yes the person who had the nerve to come to my present neighborhood and home in another state to just accuse me of being a horrible person. If it had not been for a true friend who advised me 2 years ago to cut off all contact, thoughts etc.... I believe today I would still be blaming myself. After listening to this book, I realized somehow I had gone through the majority of the steps outlined and now I enjoy peace just being myself not catering to the needs of those other than my teenagers. I have the people around me that truly matter and care. I know longer argue or debate with myself or feel the need to prove I can accomplish things just to say I did it or show the world. I can breathe again! If you are in a bad relationship there is hope and a way forward start here and keep pushing through to your real dream and peace

My Life is Joy and this book confirmed it.
