Summary

Polly, an average, completely ordinary property lawyer, is convinced she's losing her mind. Someone keeps drinking her coffee. And talking to her clients. And doing her job. And when she goes to the dry cleaner's to pick up her dress for the party, it's not there. Not the dress - the dry cleaner's. And then there are the chickens who think they are people. Something strange is definitely going on - and it's going to take more than a magical ring to sort it out.

Critic reviews

“Clever, funny, tirelessly inventive …Tom Holt maybe the most imaginative satirist to land on our shores since Douglas Adams." (Christopher Moore)
"Uniquely twisted...cracking gags." ( The Guardian)

I love Tom Holt books so I was really happy when I found they were available on Audible, however this will be the last one I buy. The narrator is absolutely terrible, his voice horrible and the way he voices some of the characters is unbearable. In fact his narration was so bad I couldn't even get past a few chapters.

Will stick to buying the books

This is a really strange tale, but lots of fun and very enjoyable, a bit long in parts, but only on certain scenes, that said there are little in the way of dull parts. I hung on every word. I would certainly try another Tom Holt book. Well read.

Weird! But in a good way

This book is very Surreal and also very VERY funny. If you have read and enjoyed the writings of Spike Milligan, you will Love this!

Very Surreal

I've yet to come across a Holt novel I haven't enjoyed. His asides and similes are out of the top draw of British humour. Of course the narrator's performance adds to this, but the material is luxuriant.

Warm humour from a terrific storyteller
