About this listen

Read by Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Sherlock, Marvel)

In Life, the Universe and Everything – the third title in Douglas Adams' blockbusting sci-fi comedy series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy – Arthur Dent finds himself enlisted to prevent a galactic war.

In consequence of a number of stunning catastrophes, Arthur Dent is surprised to find himself living in a hideously miserable prehistoric Earth. However, just as he thinks that things cannot possibly get any worse, they suddenly do. He discovers that the galaxy is not only mind-bogglingly big and bewildering, but also that most of the things that happen in it are staggeringly unfair.

Escaping the end of the world for a second time, Arthur, Ford, and their old friend Slartibartfast embark (reluctantly) on a mission to save the whole galaxy from fanatical robots. Not bad for a man in his dressing gown . . .

Follow Arthur Dent's galactic (mis)adventures in the rest of the trilogy with five parts: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, and Mostly Harmless.

Amazing story line. Couldn't wait to listen when heard Martin Freeman was reading. It was lovely to hear another book in the series with Arthur and Ford in it

Excellent

Third in the series and I'm looking forward to hearing where the plot goes now. Will we find out the ultimate question? What will happen to Arthur?

Spoiler alert. Douglas Adams gets an unexplainable fetish for cricket, and no, you don't get to find out the ultimate question. The story was ok in places, meandered aimlessly like a lost sheep in others. Gave the story line 3 stars as, despite its meandering, managed to keep my attention.

Foop.

Obsessed about cricket? You'd better be...
