Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .

You probably already know my name. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.

Even though they couldn’t find enough evidence to charge me, I know you all think I did it. That’s OK. I realise being found wandering the streets the next day covered in her blood wasn't a great look.

Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?

And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?

And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?

Perfect for fans of HOW TO KILL YOUR FAMILY by Bella Mackie, NONE OF THIS IS TRUE by Lisa Jewell and MURDER IN THE FAMILY by Cara Hunter.

Critic reviews

‘Edgy and scary, thrilling and twisty, laugh-out-loud funny. I loved it!'
'Listen for the Lie is a page-turner from the first sentence to the very last. In addition to being a world-class whodunit, full of carefully doled-out twists, Lucy is a terrific character, feisty and funny and, it turns out, brave as hell. It's great fun. Readers will rip through this one.'
'Amy Tintera's highly compelling voice grips you from the opening line and won't let you go. Listen For the Lie is an extremely successful high-wire act, balancing between dark comedy and darker thrills. A delight from start to finish.'
Razor-sharp, original and highly entertaining. Lots of twisty, pitch-black fun in this genuine pageturner.
Amy Tintera gives the fashionable device of podcaster v detective a fresh spin in this scintillating comic noir.
What turns this set-up into scintillating comic noir is Lucy’s narrating voice, which is as smart and sardonic about her own words and thoughts as it is about her relatives, former bedmates and other interviewees.
A brilliantly dark subversive romp.
It's a page-turner you'll absolutely race through.
Readers will be hard-pressed not to wolf down this intelligent page-turner in a single sitting.
‘Smart, surprising and very funny - wickedly entertaining.’

A thrilling whodunnit that combines dark humour, a gripping podcast format, and a tangled web of secrets. Lucy’s journey to uncover the truth about her best friend’s murder is filled with twisty surprises, morally grey characters, and suspense that will keep you hooked until the very end. Perfect for fans of true crime podcasts and binge-worthy thrillers. I really enjoyed listening to this on audiobook —it’s an easy and entertaining listen!

The Podcast Format is Perfect.

I'd heard great things about this book but I wad 3/4 in and the story still hadn't progressed. Suddenly Lucy remembers everything in the last few chapters out of the blue?
The podcast wasn't believable for me either, anyone who actually listens to true crime podcasts would never listen to people just gossiping.

dissappointing!
