Polly Waterford is recovering from a toxic relationship. Unable to afford their flat, she has to move miles away from everyone, to a sleepy little seaside resort in Cornwall, where she lives alone above an abandoned shop. And so Polly takes out her frustrations on her favourite hobby: making bread.
But what was previously a weekend diversion suddenly becomes far more important as she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, and each loaf becomes better and better. With nuts and seeds, olives and chorizo, with local honey (courtesy of local bee keeper, Huckle), and with reserves of determination and creativity Polly never knew she had, she bakes and bakes and bakes.... And people start to hear about it. Sometimes, bread really is life...and Polly is about to reclaim hers.

Would you consider the audio edition of Little Beach Street Bakery to be better than the print version?
I have no idea as I have not read print version.Audio version was excellently narrated though. What was one of the most memorable moments of Little Beach Street Bakery?
lots of memorable moments in whole book hard to say which part more than othersWhat about Anne-Marie Piazza’s performance did you like?
She was very easy to listen to ,a pleasant reading voice that did not try to go over the top with accents. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The part when the boat got lost at sea and...just after -don't want to spoil it and give away spoilers here....Any additional comments?
I bought 'Little Beach Street Bakery' as I was looking for a light, easy read on my Kindle and it definitely didn't disappoint. I found myself being pulled into the story and really caring about the characters - it was sad in places, happy in others and made me laugh out loud more than once. This is a lovely story and has a real feel good factor about it. The main character, Polly, is written about in such a way that you actually begin to care about her and what happens!
This was my first Jenny Colgan novel and I could not have picked a better story. This is the kind of feel-good book you can eat up in one sitting, because the characters and the storyline just flow and mould together so well.
I loved this book, i was swept away by the story and was smiling most of the way through, Pollys life goes from bad to worse from the breakdown of her long term relationship, no longer able to afford the flat she lived in she has no choice but to move away to a sleepy little village in Cornwall where she knows no one and has to live above an abandoned shop in a run down flat. Trying to make the most of her days since there's not a lot going on in the village she picks up a old hobby she used to love which was baking bread. Soon she has all the locals talking and they all want to sample her baking but not everyone is happy about her hobby, mainly her mean looking landlord who happens to be the local baker. This really is a lovely light read with a touch of romance chucked in too, it had me laughing out loud in places, mainly due to her rescued puffin bird which was so cute and funny and my favourite parts of the book. I would recommend to anyone looking for a bit of light hearted escapism.
Light and enjoyable.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No, I really didn't enjoy it... and had to think twice about whether to listen to the end.If you’ve listened to books by Jenny Colgan before, how does this one compare?
I thought I'd read her before... and thought she'd be a light 'listen' .... but I found myself getting irritated a lot and not sure if it was the writing or the narrating.Did Anne-Marie Piazza do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
I will remember her name so that I DON'T listen to another I'm afraid. Yes every character sounded different, but Huckle's voice made me squirm... which is a problem when it's one of the main characters.I was listening in my car on a long journey, and found that it was better when I speeded up the narration to 1.25% .... There wasn't enough happening for such a slow narration.
Was Little Beach Street Bakery worth the listening time?
For me, no.Any additional comments?
I've given it 3 stars (tried to put 2 1/2 but couldn't) ... as some of it was okay to listen to.Not my cup of tea at all...

Would you try another book written by Jenny Colgan or narrated by Anne-Marie Piazza?
Definately not!How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Used a different narrator for sure! How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her voice portraying the main character was whiny & nasally, the depiction of the male characters accents was laughable as was the main characters best friends voice - I was listening over headphones & actually had to turn the volume down when the best friend spoke. It was made into a farcical listenCould you see Little Beach Street Bakery being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
Not in its present form, however someone wholesome would have to play the lead!Any additional comments?
I was very disappointed in this book, I had hoped it would be an uplifting story, narrated well & leave me with that feel good factor. The story itself I was warming to especially the puffin, but the narrators voice, unfortunately, destroyed it for me.Disappointing!!
