Summary
Innocence is no protection against evil…
One early October afternoon, ten-year-old Jacob Rossi begins the short walk home from school. But he never makes it.
Days later, DCI Anna Tate is called to the scene of a burning building, where an awful discovery has been made. A body has been found, and the label in his school blazer reads: J. Rossi.
As Anna starts digging, she soon learns that a lot of people had grudges against the boy’s father. But would any of them go so far as to take his son?
And is the boy’s abductor closer than she thinks?
An absolutely gripping thriller for fans of Cara Hunter’s No Way Out and First Blood by Angela Marsons.

Everything felt so nicely wrapped up at the ending
What an amazing series

Also, Anna’s voice seemed to change again! Different in each book or maybe it’s just my ears!
Apart from those issues it was a relatively decent listen.
Disappointing

AWESOME

Compared with the last two books, this one is far more dramatic, which isn't necessarily a good thing. I struggled to believe that Anna and Chloe could drive through London and manage to steer clear of trouble when there was bedlam everywhere.
I also found Anna's choices hard to accept. Although her job is very important, if I hadn't seen my daughter in ten very long years, I would be damned if I'd leave her on her own—especially after my house had been targeted by rioters the day before.
It almost feels as though this one was written in the hope it might make it to the TV screen—I'm not sure.
Overall, it ended up feeling a bit too far-fetched for me, I'm afraid.
4/5
