About this listen
Jordan Amid’s family has always been connected to the other side of the veil, but they follow a long tradition of secrecy, not telling outsiders all they can do. When an insistent spirit keeps showing up in the middle of the night, he knows he can’t keep it all from Bran any longer. Throwing his spirit from his body is only one of the skills he has, but he’s not sure its time to admit everything yet.
Bran Tanda is finally starting to accept and understand more of his necromancer abilities, but he’s still hesitant to embrace all the powers he knows he possesses, and even though he’s avoided the witches in his mother’s coven his ability is not only one they’re interested in.
Jordan’s family has kept their abilities secret for generations. Mostly to protect themselves from being used in ways that could bring more power to some at the expense of others. Especially when one of those secrets involves the ancient enemy that’s been behind most of the strange happenings around town. Jordan and Bran’s abilities will be tested, along with their relationship. More than their relationship will suffer if they fail.

A very insistent spirit is demanding Jordan's attention.
He's also trying to come to terms with his abilities and learning to control them while also keeping danger at bay.
I also really enjoyed seeing our boys work on and develop their relationship further.
Guy Veryzer did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.
Great continuation of the series

Story - part two of an ongoing series, with really good world building and an interesting established couple. Jordan and Bran have very different powers and discover a lot about themselves during this part of the series. Edith turned out to be very different from how she started off and became very necessary. A good HFN ending, with the evil power still to be fought later.
good

When things start to become more obvious, when there are strange happenings around time, when both Jordan and Bran are visited by the dead who won't take no or go away as an answer, they know something has to be done. The question is are they willing to do what they have to, it's going to be dangerous and yet so is not acting.
Guy Veryzer brings his flair and an alarming ability to voice the dead in a fantastically sinister manner, to his reading of this, the second book in the Spirit Boys series. It's really quite an addictive listen and at just over four hours I found it to be perfect accompaniment to an afternoon of crafting!

Guy Veryzer's narration is spot on for this paranormal story. His voice is gravelly. And a little bit spooky. I got chills listening to the part where Jordan is across the veil. I enjoyed the ebook when I read it a few months ago, but Guy brought BL Maxwell's words to the next level.
I love how everyone treats Buddy as if he's a flesh and blood dog, and hope that Jordan can 'pet' him at some point. And I really think that there's more to Justice than a spirit bound to Bran. Can't wait to find out.
I received an advanced audio copy of this story from Booksprout and this is my review.
