Summary

It’s Christmas, and James and Beth are preparing for Harrington’s festive dinner and dance. This year, famous diva Olivia Dupre is singing; a wedding is taking place, and they’re hosting a reunion of PALs - ex-army comrades from the Great War. When Olivia falls ill and claims she’s been poisoned, James puts his sleuthing hat on. But things take a sinister turn when a further attack takes place.

What secret is Major Carlton hiding? Who is writing evil poison-pen letters? What relevance does the discarded diary have? Join James and the Cavendish regulars as he battles to solve the crime and bring a ruthless killer to justice.

I do like these books by Lynn Florkiewicz. They are easy to read with no gratuitous sex and violence. A lovely way to spend a few hours. They are reasonably well read by David Thorpe too. I would definitely recommend them.

Good story, well read

I’m now completely hooked on Lord Harrington , the village life and unusual ‘ goings on ‘ aplenty !
I enjoy books with characters to get to know , mysteries to solve and a complete lack of
bad language , gore and sex scenes …….so I’m very happy with this pleasant but never dull series !

Another Intriguing Mystery

Although the plot was a thoughtful one, it never really got going. The characters are so thinly drawn that I didn't grow to like or sympathise with any of them. The narrator did a great job though to inject some life into them.

Good story, poor characterisation

Very difficult to keep track of them all. And the end was too strung out.

Too many characters

I listened to most of it but lost interest to the extent that I didn't find out "who done it". I didn't get a sense of each of the many characters and could not visualise any of them. The narrator was most convincing when quoting speech but otherwise I found his style irritating. I decided that he paused at the end of each sentence making the story sound like a news item to ne.

Disappointing
