About this listen

THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

‘For families who might sometimes feel that they are drowning in wave after wave of problems, this book could be a lifeline. Wonderful, readable and wonderfully inspiring.’ Sir Stephen Fry

‘Honest, raw, tender and so incredibly powerful.’ Anna Mathur

‘This book is for the parent lying awake at 3am, Googling traits and therapies and trying to hold it all together. It’s for the families who feel like they’ve been dropped into a different world without a map. It’s not a guidebook. It’s not a list of tips and tricks. It’s a story. Our story. And maybe, in some small way, it’s yours too.’

James Hunt is the founder of the Stories About Autism community, where hundreds of thousands of people follow his life as a father raising two autistic, non-speaking sons. In Love Needs No Words, he shares what it’s really like to navigate the meltdowns, the sleepless nights and the unexpected challenges – as well as the breakthroughs, the joy and the moments of connection.

This honest memoir about autism parenting from a dad’s perspective offers comfort, solidarity and hope. Written with warmth and understanding, it will help caregivers see that, while life might look different from how they imagined, it can still be filled with growth and love.

James stories mean so much go everybody in the autism community, especially us parent carers. This book is full of emotions, relatability, honesty and rawness. Anybody who has an autistic child, or knows a parent/carer with an autistic child or everyone for that matter should read this book. I’ve never read a book that’s helped me to heal and process my own journey with my son. Thank you so much James xx

The best book I’ve listened to in a long time. I couldn’t put it down. It had the perfect balance of honesty and struggles but with “lessons learnt” development and growth as well as hope and joy.
As a parent it was so so relevant but also as a professional working daily with ASD. I will be recommend this to everyone and everything.
James you should be immensely proud of this book, yourself, your parenting, your caring, your son and your coparenting. (As should Charlotte)
This book is phenomenal, and builds hugely on Stories about autism social media, the shop and SEN events you are creating.

If you have a friend, family member or see someone in public and don’t understand someone’s struggles or life, read this. You will end the book a better person with better awareness and understanding.

Honest, raw but positive, upbeat and so so needed.
