About this listen

A cybernetic mercenary sets her sights on the corporation that forced her transformation in this dystopian sci-fi from the author of Victor of Tucson.

Juliet Bianchi has evolved from a lowly scrap cutter to a fully-loaded, combat-ready dark side operator. Known as "Lucky," she takes high-risk jobs for high-tech upgrades (you know, like weaponry, super reflexes, mind reading, etc.) that make her nearly invulnerable. Nearly.

Juliet is looking forward to some downtime to recover, recoup, and reunite with her mates from the space salvage trawler Kowashi. But after a while, she gets that old itch she can never quite seem to scratch: to infiltrate, and hopefully subvert, the all-powerful WBD megacorporation that created the AI that changed her life—and find out just what the hell she might be becoming.

To do that, Juliet must assemble a team of expert covert mercs to get her inside WBD's formidable defenses. And to do that, she'll need the help of the last person she'd ever trust: Tanaka—the man who delivered a brutal beating she almost didn't survive back on Titan. No one ever said being a hyper-advanced, cyber-enhanced master spy/thief/warrior was going to be easy . . .

The fifth volume of the hit cyberpunk series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Lunar Interlude of the Cyber Dreams series by 🪶 @plum_parrot, 🎧 published by @podium_ent and 🎙️ read by #SuzyJackson.

This book contains 💀 Lucky kicking the hell out of bad guys, taking names but not taking prisoners.

We are seeing at her literal peak.

You may know her as Juliet, January, Roman, or Lucky 💀 but regardless she is the same killer chick that we all know and love.

And now she faces her nemesis Tanaka who previously tried to kill her and almost succeeded.

But Lucky too has handed out death to her foe.

Ever since our MC killed Tanaka he has regained his form and now has regained his purpose in life: not to kill Lucky but to help her.

This manifests as him teaching her the way of the sword ⚔️

I absolutely loved the role reversal of Tanaka switching from foe to friend.

It takes some time for the pair to build trust with each other and the 👺tensions are excellently teased out by @plum_parrot.

It was also nice for Lucky to have her best friend 🍯 Honey join her. As a dedicated swordswoman it gave the teaching sessions even more importance.

My only gripe about this 🎧 audiobook series is the narrator's limited range of character voices.

For instance, 🔥 'Hot Mustard' 🔥 has a commonly used voice, which I identified with other minor characters in the series as well as the prominent character Bennet in this book.

With that critique done, it must be said that I absolutely ❤️ love this series.

@plum_parrot creates an incredible cyber-punk world filled with things such as rouge AIs, assassins and chop-shop wankers.

It makes for one hell of a read and I will be sad when this series ends.

This book reads like its title suggests, an interlude. Less high stakes and more casual. This is not a negative in my opinion, It allows for some great character moments that otherwise wouldn't have happened, advancing the plot to its final. However for some i could see it being a real issue. There is action of course, but non compare to the previous high tension moments in this series. If you think this will be an issue for you id honestly recommend waiting till book 6's audiobook is released and then binge book 5 and 6 together (according to a comment i read, expected release is april 2025), as the best experience overall.

A great penultimate book to setup the end!

This book story was a lot simpler than the previous books but nonetheless just as enjoyable, the relationships explanded between Juliet and her friends around her gives her next big mission more stakes of what she has to lose.

As usual the performance by Suzy was phenomenal and has kept me hooked on her every word, I cant wait to hear the epic conclusion to the series.

A thrilling build towards the end

This is a very good book the only negatives I have it didn’t feel like much happened but I understand this as it is setting up for the next book and I am completely okay with this. that thing that made me have to do a lot of suspension of disbelief was the inconsistency of how powerful speed augments are cause sometimes it seems like she is moving ultra fast and other times it feels like she is moving very fast but only half as fast as some of the other times but I can get this as they are trying to create a intense story with lots of action and good storytelling and overall they have achieved this. I would highly recommend this book to anyone into sci-fi cyberpunk or anything else in this genre.

Sorry for the bad grammar I’m using speech to text because of dyslexia
