About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Two years after the events of His Dark Materials, Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon sit high on the roof of Jordan College, gazing down on the streets of Oxford. But their peace is shattered by a flock of enraged starlings, who seem intent on knocking another bird out of the sky - a bird that Lyra and Pan quickly realise is a witch's daemon. The daemon carries worrying tidings of a terrible sickness spreading in the north, and claims that only Lyra can help him - but is he really friend, or foe?

Love Phillip Pullman books and this one was beautifully narrated. It was very short which I didn’t notice before I bought it so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of buying it.

Very Good but Very Short (47mins)

This very short story definitely makes you think about what’s next for Lyra and Pan.

Short and well written

Way too short, didn’t follow on from the amber spyglass. Just wasn’t very good. Ok

Phillip Pullman’s magical story telling still shines through, but this story was so disappointing as it lacked the substance for which we know him best.

Just as the story starts to take hold, one is left wanting more and wondering where on earth it had disappeared.

Certainly not worth paying for 😔

A disappointing quick dip into Lyra’s World
