About this listen
“Hey Frankie, we need ya.”
One phone call, five words, and I’m back in the town I swore I’d never return to. Going home was never part of the plan, but when my dad calls because he needs help to solve a murder, I can’t say no.
Running into the three men I thought I would spend my entire life with has me questioning why I ever picked up the phone.
I need to solve the case and move on to the next, but I don’t think my past is done with me yet.
Follow Frankie as she solves magical mysteries and rekindles past flames. MBI is a Whychoose Complete Series. Listen straight through.

Book 1 in this Reverse Harem ( why choose) story. This story by Albany Walker has it all ,kidnapping, hiding a car so they can’t leave, having their hotel stay cancelled so they have nowhere to stay . Albany continues to word build , she has great description in this first story . It’s a slow burn story. If you’re looking for a mystery/ thriller. Looking forward to book 2
Book 2 is full of trilling acts and mystery. Frankie does use some of her magic to put
things in some sort of order as much as she can The relationship between Frankie and her men Remy, Grayson and Felix keeps growing. She wonders if there is anyone else in Remy, Grayson and Felix lives they tell her she is it for them .
Book 3
Final story in this Reverse harem story. As the story progresses Albany word building and description of the characters and scenes is strong. Frankie men Remy, Grayson and Felix has their act together and they are fully into helping Frankie. They do solve who is behind the mystery.
Christian Black and Laurie West performance was spot on . Their tone for the characters and scenes were strong
This triller will have you guessing

Story: There weren't really any side characters outside of those the plot required and none of them were very deep. Our FMC has no female friends. The characters had pretty much no backstory until near the end where we got a few flashbacks. The world with the Magical FBI has soooo much promise, but falls flat. There's apparently a whole ranking system of power levels of magic users, but it is only brought up a few times then stops. We don't even know the rankings of all those involved in the main group. It was a bit like listening to an abridged version of a book, rushed and lacking details. One of the guys apparently plays sports at a professional level, but no info about that really. One works from home doing... something? Another is the mayor in town and we almost know more about his work than any others. She has this kick ass job, but only does one assignment for her actual job during the three book series. The characters had so many insecurities in their relationships that it felt like a high school romance.
Narrators: They were pretty ok. It was done in duet narration which is generally awesome. But it wasn't great. Christian Black felt a bit like listening to an old video game where you select an option with small, choppy reading sections. Laurie West grew on me as we went through the series. Again, nothing wrong with anything... but nothing amazing either.
Do I recommend this? Sure. It isn't going to win any awards, but also very few trigger warnings and is slightly above a fluffy romance since it includes an actual plot with a bit of violence and ghosts. Why choose without sword crossing.

And there is nothing happening in the books, just a lot of talking.
