About this listen
Reynard Drake, solitary cybersecurity expert and curator of the Drake family fortune, would rather be chucked in the midden than forced to bed an omega, but as the selected Amethyst candidate for the mating experiment, he has no other choice. Resigned to his unhappy fate, he takes solace in the fact that one thing will never change -his virtual rival, Magpie, will always be there to keep him on his toes, even if he has been strangely absent from the internet lately...
Diamond Disgrace Misha Vasiliev has a secret. By day he learns what it takes to warm a dragon’s bed, but at night he’s Magpie, renowned hacker and dark web service provider who steals from dragons in his spare time. His favorite target? Reynard Drake, whom he's only ever seen in pictures, but whom Misha wants more than anyone else.
And now, with a faceless threat closing in on his cloister, quite possibly the only one capable of saving his life.
Magpie is a steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set during the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains pretty things hidden where the sun don’t shine; a scandalous screenshot or two; plenty of laughs; its fair share of tense moments; and, of course, “Beagle!” For maximum enjoyment, Magpie is best listened as a companion piece to the Forbidden Desires series.

Reynard and Misha are totally different than any other Alpha or Omega Dragon in their personalities and sexual expressions and I loved how their relationship developed, through adversity and danger their love and bond endures.
Many previous characters return, including my all time favourites, Everard and Harry, with their whelp Darwin and of course Steve, the iguana.
Michael Ferraiuolo is a master at narrating and he is just perfection, giving each and every character a distinctive voice. He has to be one of the best narrators out there.

Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly can keep on writing books in this universe till the end of time! I'll never get tired of these incredible characters, the amazing chemistry, and the wildly creative storylines.
Between this one and Swallow we've gotten some nice, kinky relationship dynamics. Magpie has the older, larger dragon as the submissive and the delicate omega is the dominant - and Scott and Kelly do an amazing job with it.
Please, please keep having Michael Ferraiuolo perform this series. His voices are amazing, and he can keep on speaking with a Russian accent till the end of time. I'll never get tired of listening to it. He's amazing.
Honestly, you can probably read any of these stories as standalones, but there are so many wonderful characters who contribute to the story, I think it's best to read them in order.
an audiobook copy of Swallow was provided to me for the purpose of my honest review

Misha (Magpie) and Reynard have been online adversaries for several years. With the introduction of the mating experiment, Misha gets into the system and ensures that he is matched with Reynard, knowing how good the two can actually be together. What follows is an intense relationship that the two finally build in the real world where they each perfectly provide what the other needs; control, submission and a family to call their own.
I love these characters, there's hidden depths to them both and the play on alpha/omega dominant/submissive is really enjoyable, especially with Misha's personality and attitude. There's a real connection there between them from the start that only gets stronger with the troubles that they face, especially towards the end of the book. Reynard's family really come into their own as well for as stubborn and bullish as all of the Drake men can be, they are really there for each other when it counts.
Michael's narration of this whole series has been fantastic and he doesn't let us down with Magpie. The range that he has with voices and accents stands out with so many family members and possible locations that any of the dragons or disgraces come from. Cannot recommend him enough as a narrator, his voice just draws you into the story, holding you captive throughout the book as it plays on our emotions and interest.
So much to enjoy in Forbidden Desires spin off
