Summary

*Contains an exclusive Adam Fawley short story* From the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Tiktok sensation MURDER IN THE FAMILY and the DI Adam Fawley series comes a brand new gripping crime thriller about a figure from the past…

You thought she was dead.

She fooled you once.

Will she fool you again?

In 2016, eight-year-old Daisy Mason vanished.

Her mother was convicted of her murder. But her body was never found.

Now, evidence at a current murder scene calls the whole case into question. DCI Adam Fawley and the team are brought back to investigate. And they all have one question on their minds.

What really happened to Daisy Mason?

I wait for the annual Fawley like a small child waiting for Christmas. MAKING A KILLING shows that Cara Hunter is once again at the top of her game – it’s twisty, fast-paced and immersive, with an emotional depth that’s all too rare in this genre

(JP Delaney)

A must-read from Britain’s most original crime-writer. Ingenious, twisting and always captivating, Hunter switches it up a notch and them some. Just bloody brilliant

(John Marrs)

The best Fawley yet! I raced through this twisty mystery, wrong footed at every perfectly executed turn

(Victoria Selman)

Cara Hunter strikes all the right suspense notes with the latest in the Adam Fawley series. Making a Killing grips from the first headline in this immersive crime thriller. It’s dark and twisty and full of fascinating characters that will keep readers hooked until the last page

(Olivia Kiernan)

Immensely readable … a mesmerising crime narrative

An ever-changing picture of an utterly devious killer

Sensational … This riveting story reveals Daisy as far more sinister than anyone expects

As page-turningly suspenseful as ever … nail biting

Full of so many twists and turns that whiplash is a likely outcome. One of the cleverest thrillers I've ever read.

Few books demand to be read in two or three sessions, but [this] is such a treat, grabbing the reader by the throat with its mesmerising crime narrative

I’m a massive fan of this author and series. I was excited to realise this picked up from one of the earlier books, but (unless I’m being dense and have missed something) there is more to come. I understand that not all crimes are solved in the ‘real world’ but I hope we’re going to get answers to the questions not yet resolved.
Excellent narrators. I wish this team could read every book I choose to me.

There’s more to come…..surely?

I have read or listened to all Cara Hunter’s books & loved them all. The ending of this one made me feel very short-changed…..

Slightly disappointing

I’ve loved every single one of this series until now, 5 star all the way. But I couldn’t not get into this one. I listened to it all but was disappointed in both style and story line.

Slow to get going and by then it was too late

If I hadn't read the original Daisy Mason story I'm not sure this one would have made sense. It was an interesting development on the original story. It was interesting following the twists and turns of the plot which is why I felt a bit let down by the ambiguous ending. I was also confused by the short story at the end. Is this to be explored further in an up-coming episode? If so I hope we get a aid memoir when the story is released or I will struggle to remember the gist. By the way Evesham is in Worcestershire the Geography wasn't entirely accurate.

A complicated and compelling story with an ambiguous ending.

Cara Hunter books are just brilliant! Great plot, plot twists, superb characters and nice and long!! The narrators are excellent and that is not always the case with audiobooks, sadly. Can’t wait for another one!

Brilliant!!
