I read the reviews after finishing listening and I can see why some people may suggest the book contains repetition and rambling but I actually feel this was the books strength. It really dragged you into Majorie’s mind set helped by an amazing narrator.
I agree there is an event which is unrealistic involving G but this is the only weak point. I really enjoyed listening to this follow up.

Started off with the save level of detail and great story telling as in Bird Box, but the ending felt rushed and too easy which was sad. Still a good book though and worth the cost.

ignored other poor reviews about it dragging as I wanted to know what happened in the end. Dragged as there were pages and pages of inner thoughts that were repetitive and draining with nothing of any substance and in the end I gave in and like others had to keep hitting the skip button. progress was made bur very and painfully slowly. persistence paid off and the action picked up at the end leaving the reader on a high and so satisfied at the end that I nearly forgot about the slow slow slow start. The end felt rushed and like the author couldn't be bothered where loose ends were left untied and disappointment lay bare especially with what happened to Gary but also about the other neighbours ours sister and so on. This book had great potential but didn't make it. Still worth a read to find out what happened in the end.

A genuinely good sequel, which takes you on an amazing journey. These pair of novels really are... well... novel! I won't give anything away.

I really wanted to like this book, after loving the first I bought it with such high hopes! Honestly, I can't decide what I think of it, I'm really on the fence. While I did like the characters and the story did keep me guessing it didn't give me the punch in the gut of the first book. At times I found I was getting bored and felt like skipping chapters. Without posting spoilers the ending was very neat and I did find myself asking "what the?" I think the author is in some kind of competition to see how many repeat words he can fit into the book, I felt like if I heard 'Sam and Mary Walsh' one more time I would scream. And the man's name beginning with 'G' stalking her for so long was bizarre.
Overall giving it 3 stars, like the theme and the author I just felt it was a huge letdown compared to Bird Box
