This was a fun story and I could see it ending here. I hope that's not the case but either way it was enjoyable.

A good slice of life fantasy story about a retired guard trying to find hea peace on farming I'm retirement but not everything is it as it seems in the village he has been given hes farm.

This simply worked. It was a complete change of pace to my usual audible books and it was surprisingly good.

The story is pretty good with nice characters, although the first two chapters are wobbly and the author uses the word "lad" almost every 3 sentences, which got fairly painful, but overall enjoyable story!

But MY GOD what happened with the narration? Audio levels are all over the place, mic quality the same, with lines obviously stitched in at a later time and with a way worse mic. The MC is a 38 year old veteran but sounds like he's 21 at most, all stumbly and hesitant. The narration has a couple of repeated lines that should have been edited out and notes given to Alexa that system menus don't have to be YELLED at the listener.

But the cardinal sin of the narration is that more than once the characters are eating and Markus SMACKS HIS LIPS like he's eating! I have misophonia so I almost stopped listening there and then.

Now do keep in mind that some of what I said can be seen as nitpick but it's my feedback. If these things are not as huge of a deal to you then the story is enough to carry you through the rough parts. Or just buy the book.
