First off, this is an unabashedly British audiobook which honestly is a tad refreshing when the norm is American ( which is not a knock on others) but this series takes on a he who fights with monsters vibe for me ( instead they’re Australian and damn proud of it)
The story telling and balance is solid, narration is superb, everything is well paced but a bit slow paced( which is great for a long listen)
The multiple world building is relatively sturdy.
The characters are well built and fleshed out, but there is definitely humanity coming through.

All this for a single credit.. it’s a solid no brainer

I did not expect much and so was delighted to find that both the story and Narration was well above average.

I can honestly say this omnibus has been a rel treat and provided hour upon hour of an entertaining distraction from the realities of life.

I highly recommend this audiobook as I am certain anyone who enjoys a good fantasy yarn will be delighted with this purchase.

My only niggle is the author, like so many others, relies upon modern day songs and movies for nearly all his similies: like, "he looked like so and so, from so and so" This poor writing style was really annoying.

The author relies too heavily on everyone having watched the same media as he, even down to "YouTube" So, if you are of the same age as the author and follow his likes on all media consumption, this audiobook would make more sense. I gave up googling constantly to find out what the author was trying to get across with his similies, which ruined the audiobook quiet a lot; however, even with the lazy writing, I still loved the story and characters.

If you like computer games, then you will probably appreciate this. Unfortunately, I do not, and was therefore just confused most of the time listening to this. I did not understand most of the terms which I would imagine are gaming terms.

The first book of the trilogy was okay. While there were some gaming terms, they were fairly self-evidentary. The character development was good and the story, while the premise was silly, was a good one.

By the third book it was a massive struggle to get to the end. Character development was replaced by the physical changes that happened to the main people. A number of people come into the story for purely exposition without really sounding like people. It sounded like they were animated signposts rather than characters who live, breathe, fear or suffer loss - even when they say that they had just suffered some terrifying loss.

If you are a gamer, give it a go. You get a long story for one credit. If not, you may regret wasting a credit on it.
