About this listen

Regal and dazzlingly beautiful, Mary Stuarts succumbed to the irresistible impulses of passion and gambled away her throne for love in a deadly game of power against her envious cousin, Elizabeth I. She not only lost her kingdom, but also her life. Betrayed by those she trusted most, pampered and adored even as she was led to her own beheading, she remained an enigma five centuries after her death.

In my ignorance I did not know she was the mother of James the first or that she was French and a dowager queen. it is quite a sand book really and I didn’t realise she was kept prisoner for so long. Her execution was not nice either and the opinion of the character of Queen Elizabeth first does not paint a good picture of her. Although perhaps I could be thought a Catholic sympathi
