About this listen

While her husband, Sherlock Holmes, is off playing detective in London, Irene Adler finds herself having to turn investigator when her friend Renata becomes the prime suspect in the attempted murder of her husband, Luigi Amato. How can she refute the testimony of a credible eyewitness, even though her heart tells her that Renata is innocent? What she needs is tangible evidence, and she's willing to do what she must to obtain it.

When Sherlock finally arrives on the scene, Irene seeks his counsel, and he agrees to assist with her investigation. However, their relationship is called into question by Irene's dear friend Sophia, who is not overly fond of Irene's husband nor approving of the way in which they conduct their marriage. Will Irene be able to prove her friend Renata's innocence, or is ther a more tangled web of deceit at play? And will Sophia's misgivings regarding her marriage bear unfortunate fruit?

The Deepest secrets are often to be found out in the open, if you only know where to look.

I started this while commuting and ended up looking forward to every chance to continue. The narration was clear and easy to follow, which helped a lot. I liked how the mystery slowly unfolded without giving too much away early. A few parts felt slightly slow, but nothing too distracting. Overall, it was a really enjoyable listen.

At first I thought it would just be about solving the case, but there was more going on. Irene trying to prove Renata’s innocence felt personal, not just detective work. Sherlock’s presence added depth, especially with how others saw him. Sophia brought some tension I didn’t expect, and it actually made the story better. The narration made it easy to stay connected to each character. I’d definitely listen to more like this.

I picked this up late at night and honestly didn’t plan to read much, but I got hooked pretty fast. I liked how the mystery built up slowly and made me question who to trust. The main character felt strong but still human, especially with everything going on around her. Some parts felt a bit rushed toward the end, but it still worked for me. I actually enjoyed the mix of investigation and personal drama, made it feel more real. Definitely glad I read it.

I’ve listened to a lot of mysteries, but this one still managed to surprise me. I liked how things didn’t feel too obvious. The narrator did a good job keeping the mood steady, which helped a lot. I did feel like a few scenes could’ve been shorter, but it didn’t ruin it. I’d recommend it if you like this kind of story.

I liked that it wasn’t just about solving the case, the personal drama added something extra. I did guess one part early, but it didn’t ruin it for me. Overall, I’m glad I chose to continue the series.
