Summary

Every family's worst nightmare…
Three-year-old Rosie Logan is missing. Her mother, Maria, turned away for just one moment and now her life is changed forever. It falls to PC Lucy Halliday and her police dogs, Moss and Iggy, to find the girl, under the direction of Lucy's boss and friend, DCI Jack Ellis.

The case brings up old trauma for Jack. His childhood best friend, Theo, went missing when he was eleven and was never found. This is Jack's chance to make things right. He won't fail Rosie like he failed Theo.

But the investigation doesn't go smoothly. The Logan family have been keeping secrets. And every time Lucy and Jack think they're making progress, they're hampered by yet another one. Can they find the truth, and Rosie, before it's too late?

The next thrilling instalment in the new British crime fiction series featuring dog handler PC Lucy Halliday. Perfect for fans of Jane Casey, Robert Bryndza and Cara Hunter.

Lots of good twists. Very enjoyable. Who doesn’t love a well written police procedural? 2nd in a series would suggest reading Gallows Wood first or you will miss characters develop.

Brilliant author and writing. Cannot wait for the next book in October. Enjoyed all the previous books as well.

I was super excited to dive into the next Lucy Halliday book after finishing the first just a few days ago. This time, the story centres on a missing person case—a little girl who disappears from a park—led by DCI Jack Ellis. It’s dark and filled with an underlying sense of dread. The book tackles the disturbing topic of child abuse, but without including any graphic details. The book is well-written, with short chapters and plenty of twists and turns. It also dives deeper into the case of Jack's best friend, who vanished when they were children, so it’s worth reading the first book, Gallows Wood, for the full context. The main characters are both very likable, as is the wider police team. Lucy has another police dog, Iggy, in this book and both are adorable.

Kristin Atherton, the narrator of this book is awesome!
