About this listen

Spencer Cline is tired of being alone, but he also loves his job and works way too many hours. Something he’s not ready to change.

Jake Raines owns his own restaurant and knows what it’s like to put time in to make your business a success. Now he’s trying to learn how to balance the time he works with time to meet someone.

Spencer and Jake are drawn to each other instantly when they meet at a New Year’s Eve mixer. When a wrong number ensures they’ll have a little extra time together, they’re willing to take a chance on each other. Can two workaholics find time for each other in their busy schedules? With a little help from a wrong number and undeniable chemistry, they might.

Once again, Guy Veryzer, who narrates most of BL Maxwell's stories, captures the essence of this story and voices the men perfectly. I loved listening and found it added a new dimension to my enjoyment of the story.

New Year's Eve could be a night of celebration but it could also be lonely, again. One of many that are too lonely for these men since they are both workaholics. Fortunately this New Years there is a mixer with speed dating and games. Even more fortunately is the connection made even before the event has begun!

BL Maxwell once more delivers a romance with heart, so much heart. Humour too. This is not a story of two men wallowing in loneliness but of two men who are lonely and are setting out to do something about it. It reminds us that we all set our own schedules, could all do things differently, could take action and we don't need New Year's resolutions to do any of it! Share in Spencer and Jake's story, discover what it is that draws them to one another and what it is that becomes the glue they need to save one another from themselves and from drowning in work!.
