There’s nothing extraordinary about the story. Perfect for when you don’t want to think too hard.
I might have enjoyed it more if the narration wasn’t so horrible. What’s with the cadence?! It was distracting. I stopped listening and switched to only reading. I’ll steer clear of this narrator from now on. I might read the other books in the series, though

Have to say I adore Kate Reading's narration, she always makes a book seem alive to me. Enjoyed this one as I enjoy all Chase/Reading offerings. I felt I had to defend Kate's narration as people seemed to dislike it and I couldn't understand why.

I loved the narration. And found the story very interesting especially the background of progress - canals, railways and use of machines. Loved the hero and heroine and their wise parents….
