About this listen

Molly Sweeney, by the great Irish playwright Brian Friel, tells the story of married couple Molly and Frank, who live in a remote Irish village. Molly has been blind since birth, but now a surgeon - Mr. Rice - believes he may be able to restore her sight. In a series of interwoven monologues, Molly Sweeney takes us into the minds of three people with very different expectations of what will happen when Molly regains her vision.

I won't spoil the plot but just to say the story and the way it was performed was excellent. It draws you in and I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this work and it is free to members, what more is there to say.

A WELL WRITTEN PLAY THAT WILL KEEP YOU GRIPPED.

Molly Sweeney is a fantastic play and I appreciated the enthusiasm for the work that this performance is based on. However, I had to stop listening because the attempt at Irish accents in this was painful and are constantly veering into different accents which makes it really unpleasant to keep listening to. I actually wish they had stuck to their normal accents as clearly they’re able to act. Oh well.

Great story - bad accents
