Did Moonlight murder his own lover? Or has he been set up to take a fall of biblical proportions?
Some years ago, Moonlight Falls, the first novel in what would become the 2015 Thriller Award- and Shamus Award-winning best-selling hard-boiled detective series was first introduced to the world. Since then, seven Dick Moonlight noir private detective novels have been released to great acclaim. But now, for the first time ever, a longer, grittier, sexier, more dangerous, more romantic version of the original pilot episode is available. It represents the author's original dark vision and the desperate, if not paranoid state of mind he was in when writing it.
In Moonlight Falls, best-selling author Vincent Zandri asks the question, "If you knew your life could end at any moment, how far would you go to prove you murdered your lover? " Albany, New York, is the dark setting of this paranoid thriller about Richard "Dick" Moonlight, former APD detective turned private investigator, who believes he killed Scarlet Montana - his illicit lover and wife of his ex-boss, Chief of Detectives Jake Montana. Problem is, despite the blood on his hands, Moonlight doesn't remember what happened!
For fans of best-selling noir, hard-boiled mystery, and romantic suspense writers like Robert B. Parker, Michael Connelly, Lawrence Block, Don Winslow, and Charlie Huston.

One dead girlfriend, a few missing memories and he's even got himself under suspicion, as the tale unfolds he finds himself falling deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that could wire the explosives to finish his future for good where the bullet in his head failed.
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." but this is very much worth a listen.

What can I say , this is fast paced, gripping mystery, brilliant intriguing characters, tense , botched suicide, oh yes a police officer with a bullet lodged in his brain. Which cause him blackouts and headaches.

Following a botched suicide attempt, Richard Moonlight is left without a full time police job but with a bullet still !loved in his brain which, by shifting, could cause his instant death and does leave him with permanent headaches and periodic blackouts. When the woman with whom he has been having an affair is found dead, he needs to discover who was responsible if only to reassure himself that it wasn't him. A fast paced thri!let masquerading beneath a gentle surface chatter, part told in first person perspective.
Andrew Wehr!an is the ideal narrator for this book. His relaxed attitude belies his quick fire delivery, an edge of sarcasm constantly present. His delivery captures Moonlight perfectly and his voicing of the other characters is individual and distinctive. A fine lerformance.
My thanks to the rights holder of Moonlight Falls, first in the Moonlight series by Vincent Zandri, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. It was exciting without being over demanding, with some fascinating characters in addition to Moonlight, himself, who is likable despite some major f!aws. There is humour here, too, and an intriguing p!ot line. Altogether, very enjoyable, and recommended
