About this listen

Cut off from his family’s fortune because he refuses to marry the woman his father has selected for him, Fitzwilliam Darcy takes up the only employment he deems tolerable, that of bookseller. Darcy is determined to support himself and to marry for love, but his powerful relations use their clout to keep customers and fashionable young ladies away. Worse, Darcy’s absence from Pemberley allows treachery to flourish. Determined to see her older sister marry as well as possible, Elizabeth Bennet orchestrates their removal to London.

Elizabeth isn’t searching for a husband of her own, but she is always looking for a good book. At a pleasant little bookshop in Cheapside, she finds plenty to read, and so much more. But should she give her heart to a bookseller and leave the life of a gently bred lady behind? Mr. Darcy’s Bookshop asks what would happen if George Darcy and Sir Lewis de Bourgh had lived, and taken up their deceased wives’ quest to see Darcy and Anne wed. This is a lighthearted variation with laughter, love, a touch of villainy, and a happily ever after for our dear couple.

Quiete a different variation but most people true to character. I found it interesting and couldn't put it down. D&E find each other and their feelings for each other very early on. Though it takes a long time for E to realise that Darcy the book shop owner is heir to Pemberley.
lots of intrigue and family feuds happening on the Darcy side.
There is very little angst though there is some. Anne is a fire cracker! love her! it has a lot of humour in it. The Bennett's are well.. The Bennets fairly true to character.
I love how everything works out in the end though Caroline and Whickaham pay a high price but their is compassion there. I found it a great story well written and well told.
Highly recommend for P&P lovers who like a different angle on things. Excellent!

A delightful variation

Interesting storyline with a robust Anne and loving father, Mr George Darcy and dastardly Wickham. I do not think the male narrator enhanced the story telling and would much have preferred the excellent Ms Zimmerman narrated the book in its entirety. Would recommend.

Enjoyable Variation ❣️

I bought this variation because I saw SZ was narrating it. What I didn’t realise is that Darcy’s voice was narrated by a man. This kind of spoiled it for me a bit at SZ voice is much better. Anyway, I didn’t the story itself was good

Interesting variation
