Summary

An invitation to take a truck ride.

A dead body at the truck stop.

She'd entered a world as alien to her as outer space.

Little did Kelly know, when she accepted an invitation from her son’s old friend to accompany him while he ran his route, she’d end up with a dead body - and a whole new vocabulary.

Plenty of people in the trucking world had reasons to see Kimberly dead, from drugs, to jealousy, to prostitution. Join Kelly as she enters a world where people have names like Snacks, Jet, Little Paul, Lizzie, and the resident Lizard Lot. But, who did it? And did I mention, the truck stop owner and Little Paul’s wife, Susie?

This is the 16th book in the best-selling Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery Series by a two-time USA Today best-selling author.

I enjoyed this book. Dianne Harman has created another winner with this book. I love all the different situations the main character finds herself in and the way she is always up for an adventure. I would never have thought driving to different locations would be so interesting and that you would need a whole different language, not that Kelly got to do much traveling before finding the body. It was unusual for the story not to start with the murder (as this author tends to do) but I think it worked for this story because it gave you a chance to learn why Kelly was in a truck in the first place. The mystery was good and and as each suspect kept pointing the finger at each other it kept you guessing. It's a nice easy read despite it covering the serious subject of prostitution.
Kelly missing her son, she jumps at the chance to catch up with his best friend from when he was a teenager by joining him as he goes about his business as a truck. The problem is at the first truck stop they stop at to grab a coffee, Kelly finds a dead body. Her husband is at home in bed with the flu that is making its way throughout the police department and his deputy asks Kelly to help out by asking questions. It turns out the young lady didn't just work in the truck stop and the more Kelly digs the closer she comes to danger.
I like the narrator, as she used different voices for each of the characters, although I am not sure about one of the characters singing a few lines to a song.
