About this listen

Don't miss a BRAND NEW instalment in the thrilling Armstrong & Oscar Cozy Mystery series by bestselling author T.A. Williams.

Gorgeous Tuscany, a gripping murder mystery featuring a retired DCI and his loyal companion, Oscar.

It really is murder in paradise!

A holiday island…

When private investigator, Dan Armstrong, and his girlfriend, Anna, are invited to the gorgeous island of Elba for a much-needed break, he jumps at the chance. The thought of sun-drenched shores makes Dan promise Anna he won't “play detective” for a whole week…

A luxury hotel…

Their luxurious hotel, with its wonderful food and picturesque seaside views, seems the perfect escape, especially with Dan's best friend Virgilio and his wife joining them. But the calm shatters with a sinister encounter and a sudden, suspicious death...

A decades old case…

Virgilio’s past connection to the victim casts a long shadow, pulling Dan into a decades-old case. But beneath Elba’s beauty lie secrets and resentments. The victim was universally hated, but was his death the result of foul play or just a tragic accident?

With his faithful canine companion, Oscar, Dan must unravel the island's mysteries, a task that soon takes a decidedly personal and unsettling turn.

I really have enjoyed each outing with Dan and Oscar …..this is no exception.
Love these books that are a delightful mix of murder mystery - gourmet meals-
and beautiful surroundings .
Quite a convoluted story in this one …. wasn’t sure which direction it would go .
However it was a joy to listen to , good ending …….and now I’m just hoping another
arrives in the near future.

Whisper it but this was my least favourite so far. Too much windsurfing and not enough dog. Having banged on in every book about how his first wife was fed up with Armstrong never being off work, the author now has independent Anna being all “it’s ok I have a book to read”. Hopefully I’ll the next one more.

Too much windsurfing!

I came across this series by sheer chance and very quickly got hooked into it. Although each book is technically standalone, they do deserve to be read in the correct order, as the ongoing details of the main protagonist - Dan's - life do grow in a pleasing way as the series goes along. The stories have good plots and are well written, in a brisk, yet enjoyable way. The characterisation is superbly handled; the characters feel real and you don't guess the villian right at the start because they don't stand out like a sore thumb as the 'baddie' - they're just ordinary people. Oscar is a joy and the Tuscan/Italian countryside is so well drawn that it almost feels like another character.

Also a word about the narration. This narrator is absolutely excellent and I can't rate him highly enough. I listen to audio books all the time and it's rare to find one that I don't flinch now and then about something they do. No so with Simon Mattacks, who narrates so well that it actually brings these brilliant books up to an even higher level.

Do yourself a favour and make Dan and Oscar a part of your life today. You won't regret it.

Brilliant story, wonderful narration
