This is the start of Rudy’s depression arc after being abandoned by the girl he loved and travelled with for years, with no reason as to why. The straw that broke the camel's back, all the years of trauma and regret, hit him in full force, and we see him at his lowest. As someone with a history of depression, who also became a gym and exercise freak to cope with a broken heart and trauma, and who has also had sexual performance issues related to trauma and mental health, this volume his extremely close to home. And at one point, we even see our lead attempting to take his own life in a moment of weakness.

All of the new characters introduced in this volume are compelling, and every action we saw was important and would affect something later on in the story. After breaking the heart of a girl who reminds him of Eris, and having his heart broken by this girl, destroying the bond he built up with his potential new party, he is hit by the gravity of everything.

Until he can get over his fear of abandonment and genuinely believe that people, he lets in won’t hurt him, he will never stop feeling empty, and he will also never get over his erectile dysfunction, which is related to his psychological turmoil. While a crude and somewhat childish metaphor, it still manages to be heavy-hitting, and this volume was hard to put down due to the emotional investment and perhaps concern or even relatability you will feel for our broken protagonist.
