He explores the meaning and impact of art, how it can connect us as well as change us. I was really looking forward to listening to this after reading the reviews both on audible and elsewhere.
However the narrator whilst having lots of intonation had the most awful American accent, which really spoilt the book for me.

I couldn’t stop listening to this. What an absolute belter of a story. It was sad, sweet, funny and unexpected

I cared about the characters from the start and it is beautifully written. It’s heart wrenching but not so much that it’s too difficult to keep on reading( couldn’t bear to see The Goldfinch to the end, took 3 goes and a stage play to get to the ending of A Little Life)
It is filled with phrases about life and pain and hope that make you stop and want to keep them with you. A celebration of teenage friendship

I have read his other books and always thoroughly enjoyed them but this, this was another level of profound beauty. I laughed and cried so hard… a must read this year ❤️
