About this listen

An emotional, small-town, first-love romance between a spirited athlete and her football hero neighbor.

Feisty, dive queen Cam Swayne refuses to give up on her destiny. For as long as she can remember, her heart has belonged to the dreamy boy next door. But despite their lifelong friendship, the three years separating them seem like an insurmountable hurdle to the relationship she really wants.

Until one summer night, when everything changes, and Jake finally sees her for the woman she’s become.

Can Cam’s sheer determination keep them together when college, illness, and fate come calling? Or will she be left to pick up the pieces without him?

“You were my only wish. My only dream come true. But what if I couldn’t keep you?

”Inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Begin Again,” this heartbreaking story of love, resilience, and unexpected happily ever afters might just leave a permanent mark on your soul.

This was a left field book for me.

A book that will make you smile and make you cry, properly cry too! I really loved the way the author built the characters and the format of the story. The story could resonate with anyone. Songs that intertwine our lives at certain times.

I want to read the next one but hope the freshness won’t be lost.

Loved this book

I am reviewing this audible book My life as a Country Album for Audiobook Obsession.
This story is so poignant. I have read and listened to quite a few books, but not one as touching as this one in a while.
The story is done in one person. Camden Swain (Cami) tells her story from start to the tragic end of her life and love for Jake Phillips. She references her love, disappointment, sadness, with songs that Taylor Swift wrote and or sang.
If you haven’t read or listened to this book yet, I urge you to do so.

Sarah Puckett the narrator did a fantastic job. Her southern accent was commendable, and praise to this author L J. Evans.

Touching

Wow, just wow. This book takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. The narration was on point, and so seemingly effortless. I have no words. Great book, great author, great narrator. Will definitely look for more.

It has taken me a few days to gather myself and get it together. I’m not usually one who goes for sappy, cry my eyes out, however, when the opportunity presented itself, I’m glad I took it. My Life As a Country Album is the type of story that is both beautiful and tragic. It was a love to last throughout the ages, the type of love everyone searches for. Cam and Jake were meant to be together and as you read about how they went through life at each stage in their life, you get so emotionally invested that you end up at your desk crying and you can’t explain why. (Mostly because you’ve been crying too hard and you can’t speak, or too embarrassed to tell anyone why you’re you’re crying!)

You fall in love with Cam and Jake from the very beginning. They are absolutely relatable and adorable. LJ Evans is new to me and I have to say the writing was spectacular. Let’s not forget the narration by Sarah Puckett! She truly brings every character to life with personality and vulnerability. What also made this interesting is this story was told to the catalog of Taylor Swift. There were a few songs I wasn’t familiar with and this book made me intrigued enough to take a listen. I can’t wait to read the next one!
