About this listen

Soon to be adapted for TV by Netflix!

Jackie does not like surprises. Chaos is the enemy! The best way to get her successful, busy parents to notice her is to be perfect. The perfect look, the perfect grades—the perfect daughter. And then . . .

Surprise #1: Jackie's family dies in a freak car accident.

Surprise #2: Jackie has to move cross-country to live with the Walters—her new guardians.

Surprise #3: The Walters have twelve sons. (Well, eleven, but Parker acts like a boy anyway.)

Now Jackie must trade in her Type A personality and New York City apartment for a Colorado ranch and all the wild Walter boys who come with it. Jackie is surrounded by the enemy—loud, dirty, annoying boys who have no concept of personal space. Okay, several of the oldest guys are flat-out gorgeous. But still annoying. She's not stuck-up or boring—no matter what they say—but proving it is another matter. How can she fit in and move on when she needs to keep her parents' memory alive by living up to the promise of perfect?

So I'm one of those that saw the NF series first and then read the book and I gotta say THE BOOK IS BETTER.
I can't believe they added some lame teacher love story instead of focusing to Walter FAMILY and the relationship between Jackie and the family, like the author did in the book!!
I hated that part in the show cause I felt thanks to that I didn't FEEL they bonded all too much with Jackie and yet they all loved her all of a sudden. I was so confused. And of course they stole some great scenes from Jackie and Cole and gave them to Jackie and Alex and I felt robbed after I heard the audiobook. Why not just leave these scenes in?? Honestly did they think they can sway anyone towards Alex when they did this?? It was always about Cole and Jackie. Just like it was always Bella and Edward ffs. And I'm not even Twilight fan lol.
Alex is great but honestly? I don't want to see any of THAT any more.
The author intended Jole/Cackie :DD to the otp PERIODTTT.
But yeah. I would've LOVED to see Jackie and Danny and Jackie and Isaac and Jackie and...... anyone else in the tv series. Family. How she lost one and gained another! Not some lame pushed teacher bs that didn't even feel natural! It felt like the writers wrote a fanfic. Or perhaps it was some 12 year old. I SO prefer the book to the series!!!
The narrator made Cole sound like some surfer dude so I wish a man would've read the books instead. Or some woman who knew HOW. But. I pictured the series actor saying the lines and that kinda worked for me as well ;)

Family dynamics.
