About this listen

This is book two in The Five Syndicates series.

Niccolaio Andretti

Asshole. Douchebag. Jerk. Those are all valid descriptions of me, especially since fleeing from Andretti territory. Angry with the turn my life has taken, I prefer the silence and loneliness of my house. Not only is it the safest place for me after my brother placed a hit on me, it is also my sanctuary - my place to get away from the bullshit that is people. Until she comes along - angry, demanding, and so damn hot. I hate her immediately.

Minka Reynolds

Bitch. Tramp. Slut. I've heard it all before. It doesn't bother me. I have more important things to deal with - like graduating from Wilton; taking care of my little sister; and yes, finding the next guy to pay for it all. If I have to sleep around for it? So be it. If I have to lose the dwindling tethers of my sanity every day? So be it. Nothing fazes me. Until he comes along - angry, demanding, and so damn hot. I hate him immediately.

Minka Reynolds has never been liked, but she doesn't care. Struggling to earn custody of her little sister, she is on a mission to gain the only things that will get her there - money, a home, and a stable career. Unfortunately, she has none of those three, but she's close. It's just within reach...until she meets Niccolaio Andretti, the former heir to the Andretti mafia family, and everything she thinks is right becomes wrong.

NOTE: This is the second book in a series and must be heard in order. This book has a HEA with no cheating and abuse! There are some graphic sexual situations, language and violence, so please listen with caution.

Niccolaio Andretti is book two in The Five Syndicats series. This book does continue with plotlines from the previous however I was about to follow alone despite not having read the first. I loved Niccolaio right from the start and the connection between him and Minka was undeniable. My heart hurt for Minka and her situation. It was rivingting and sexy from start to finish.

It’s been far to long since I’ve listened to DC Cole’s rough and raspy voice, a perfect compliment to Niccolaio bad boy persona and Lacy Laurel’s narration amped up the emotional angst to a whole new level.

Gripping and sexy

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. The storyline was gripping and I never wanted to press pause. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and would love to listen to anything else this author has written.

These narrators really brought the book to life and complimented each other really well.

Niccolaio Andretti is brooding, angry, and rude. He is pissed off at the world for the way he has to live his life now that there is a hit out on him. He is to the point of paranoia always having to watch his back and stay alert at all times, just to try and stay alive. With a hefty bounty on his head he can't afford not to be cautious at all times.

Minka Reynolds is a law student at Wilton. She is also doing whatever it takes to get custody of her little sister, even if it means using her body to get an older man to marry her. That's right, she has resorted to gold digging knowing that is the only way she will be able to show the social workers and the court that she is stable enough to be able to care for her sister. She finds older men who have money and tries whatever she can to get a ring on her finger. She is constantly hitting road blocks though. She can't seem to land them and yes, she's mostly miserable but that's life. She can sacrifice her happiness for now because she knows once she gets her sister back she will be happy again.

When Niccolaio and Minka first meet they are instant enemies. The attraction is there and it seems to piss both of them off, this isn't suppose to happen. Minka can't afford to be attracted to him, she's trying to land her mark and he seems so far away from her mark it doesn't matter how attractive he is, he isn't sugar daddy material. Niccolaio despises his attraction to Minka, he can't afford to let his guard down, that will get him killed, she is just an inconvenience that he needs to figure out how to get rid of.

The fireworks between the two of them are there but neither of them are willing to light the fuse, they keep avoiding their attraction and skirting around it as if it isn't there, probably hoping if they avoid it maybe it will go away. The problem is they can't avoid it, they can't even avoid each other. They get thrown into a situation together and in order to save both of their lives they have to stay together. It's inevitably going to end badly... or is it?

I love these books so much! They are captivating and keep you guessing and engulf you completely. I'm obsessed. They are so riveting! Well written and flow perfectly. They are sooo worth the read.
