From the acclaimed master of action and suspense. The all time classic.

An airliner crashes in the polar ice-cap. In temperatures 40 degrees below zero, six men and four women survive.

But for the members of a remote scientific research station who rescue them, there are some sinister questions to answer – the first one being, who shot the pilot before the crash?

Good story. Not the best narrator. You can see where Ice Station Zebra develop from.

You know what to expect with an Alistair McLean novel and this novel delivers it in spades. Great story with genuine suspense and really well paced.

A spy thriller that throughout, the listener can feel the intense cold, feel the frostbite, feel the despair that the characters are experiencing for themselves. A gripping storyline throughout right up until the last word. Brilliantly narrated. A first class audible book.

One of Maclean books I’ve never read. Claustrophobic sort of story and personally didn’t enjoy the readers voice. 7/10
