About this listen
The novel has become famous for its portrayal of surveillance and society's increasing encroachment on the rights of the individual. Since its publication, the terms Big Brother and Orwellian have entered the popular vernacular. This is a special celebratory release to celebrate 60 years since Nineteen Eighty-Four was first published.

What did you like most about Nineteen Eighty-Four?
Everything. I read Animal Farm a few days ago and thought it was the best book I have ever read. Then I read this book. This is now the best book I have ever read.I almost felt I diddn't need to read 1984. Like I had the general gist of it. But nothing prepares you for the actual book. I know you probably think you don't need to read it, but you do. You won't regret it.
I can't think of any book I have ever read that is as smart, insightful, cunningly written, thought provoking, and drenched in beautiful bitter irony. Nothing I have ever read is on the level of this book.
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
Who was your favorite character and why?
Winston. You really feel yourself inside the main character, even more than normally in fiction, George Orwell does a masterfull job of having you feel his pain, his hopes.Big Brother is watching you. Your right there, in Winston, in room 101, and you know that if you were in his shoes, it would have turned out just the same.
Which character – as performed by Philip Glenister – was your favourite?
O-Brien.Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Very hard to stop listening.Any additional comments?
