Summary

Enter the world of the rich, charismatic Lytton family and their powerful publishing empire in this passionate family saga that spans from the Edwardian era to World War I and the excesses of the glamorous 1920s. Enter the world of Celia Lytton, a woman who is used to getting her way. Celia makes difficult and often dangerous decisions that affect not only herself, her husband Oliver, and their children, but others—the destitute Sylvia Miller, whose life is transformed by Celia's intrusion; Oliver's daunting elder sister, who is not all she appears to be; and Sebastian Brooke, for whom Celia makes the most dangerous decision of all.

Who's bright idea was it to have an American narrator for what is undeniably an English/England inspired read? The Aussie/cockney accent is atrocious not to mention the complete mispronunciation of English counties and other oddities that we, British born and bred, have enough difficulty with! All that having been said, No Angel is a great read and at 26 hours certainly worth the price of the audio book. Ms Vicenzi has a great way with words and knows how to tell a story and engage the listener and once I stopped sniggering at the mispronunciations etc, found myself eager to listen and enjoy right to the end.

Great read, shame about the narrator

This book is a classic. I read it many years ago and loved it then from the beginning to the end. The story draws the reader in and the audio book is no different. An intelligent saga with a brilliant twist at the end.

An Absolute Classic!

The book was English through and through, so why oh why pick an American narrator. So many mispronunciations of English words and appalling cockney type accents. Really spoilt my enjoyment of the book.

Spoilt for me by use American narrator for English book!

Diana. Listened to fours times in last six months.
I love all P V,s books. The story flows keeping the reader ,s attention throughout the 26 hours. I hated the American reader with all the wrongly pronounced words. This is the first one of an excellent trilogy. I have read them all . Please, please can Audible satisfy my great craving to listen to how the family story develops.

Great story dreadful narration.

I’ve read this book countless times, decided to purchase the audio version to accompany me on my night shift and I was sorely disappointed.
Horrible American voice trying to narrate a early 1900’s story, worst cockney accent since mary poppins, character of jack made to sound like he was 80 years old yet he’s was in his 20’s when he’s first introduced in the story. I think the book needs to be narrated again, by someone who is English and can do an upper class accent and possibly a male to do the male characters. The story is amazing and is part of a trilogy and I recommend reading them.

Shame about the narration
