I was hooked at the beginning. The story is an interesting blend of fantasy, noir and horror. It shows a dark, depressing, bloody setting but at it's heart it has hope for a better future. The worldbuilding is rich, the characters interesting and their motivation was clear. They were not perfect, they made mistakes and chose horrible deads for the good intentions, but it was so easy to connect with them and hope for the best.

Some sort of alternate world...not particularly described.
Some sort of religion...the function of which seemed elusive.
It just did little for me.

Quite simply I could not get into this.
