Why do people—even identical twins reared in the same home—differ so much in personality? Armed with an inquiring mind and insights from evolutionary psychology, Judith Rich Harris sets out to solve the mystery of human individuality.

The first half of the book was a little too long for my liking, I would have been happy with one summary chapter about everything that doesn't effect personality rather than 6 or 7 chapters.
SPOLIER ALERT
Her theory suggests parents have almost NO direct effect on a child's personality.
Instead there are three primary factors that influence personality:
1) Genes and the environment's effects on genes
2) Socialisation and the desire to conform to the groups they identify with
3) The desire for status and differentiation from peers within their groups
She also seems to suggest that parents have little effect on children's long-term life outcomes, except through deciding the environment they grow up in. I think she is wrong in this regard, or that she did not properly express her views on this.
