Jane Austen's first novel - published posthumously in 1818 - tells the story of Catherine Morland and her dangerously sweet nature, innocence, and sometime self-delusion. This is one of my favourite Jane Austen novels but unfortunately it was ruined by a robotic-sounding narrator.

As a fan of Jane Austen, I was expecting an entertaining listen. But to my disappointment the various characters were often so poorly differentiated that I struggled to understand who was speaking. And some of the voices so grating/annoying that I often wanted to skip forward, disturbing the flow of the story. Altogether a disappointing rendition of a true classic!
