About this listen
Not him.
Not that guy, Weston Lively.
The one I've hated since law school.
The man who gets by on good looks, a fat bank account, and a powerful, political father.
Our more-than-just-a-kiss one drunken night changes nothing between us.
We’re both still straight.
And we still hate each other.
It doesn’t matter that we work for the same law firm.
We’ve put what happened behind us.
Except....oops.
It might’ve happened again.
And again.
Hmm.
Maybe we don’t really hate each other anymore.
But there’s a bigger roadblock in our way.
Weston’s evil father.
The two of us together could ruin his chance at becoming President.
Especially with the press digging into my past and haunting our every move.
Then his father makes Weston a terrible offer he might not be able to refuse.
It would mean breaking us apart.
And breaking our hearts.
It was easier when I hated him.
Now I can’t imagine walking away.
How did the man I once hated with a fiery passion become the one who now sets my soul on fire?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“It was easier when I hated him.”
Not That Guy is an enemies-to-lovers romance that sneaks up on you, all sharp-tongued and sizzling, then hits you straight in the chest. Felice Stevens delivers whip-smart banter, combustible chemistry, and a story that refuses to stay light when the stakes turn deeply personal. What starts as loathing and lust evolves into something tender, fierce, and achingly vulnerable—and it works beautifully.
But this audiobook? It levels up.
J. F. Harding doesn’t just narrate—he inhabits. Every beat of longing, every flash of resentment, every moment where hate blurs into need is given breath and heat. His performance adds nuance, intensity, and emotional depth that makes it impossible to hit pause. The tension with Weston’s father, the pressure of public scrutiny, the quiet moments of choosing love anyway—all of it lands hard, sharp, and deep.
This romance burns slowly, hurts achingly, and rewards your heart—with narration that turns a brilliant story into an unforgettable listening experience. I didn’t just listen to this one… I felt it.
Verdict:
Smart writing, compelling characters, devastating stakes—and narration that sets the whole thing on fire. Unmissable audio.

Blurb and author caused my choice of this book. Ms Stevens writes poignant, heartfelt tales that go where many books fail to tread, which means you get a full kaleidoscope and panoply of emotions, actions and reactions. All important details whether in environ or scene are covered, which ensures the book leaves you satisfied in all areas, not wanting to ask the author WTF are they on about. Ends are cleverly tied.
There are characters from other novels mentioned in passing, which I recognised having had and enjoyed those books.

The writing style is wonderful as always, and I quickly got drawn into the story of Brenner and Weston. They know each other from law school, where they were already rivals. Brenner and Weston have very different backgrounds and reasons for studying law. They’ve been rivals from the start, but then, while drunk, they had a one-time fling that neither of them seems able to forget. Years later, they’re colleagues at a law firm, and the attraction is still there.
A big plus for me, as always, is the chemistry between the protagonists. The story isn’t easy, but there are many great details. Slowly, a relationship develops between the two. And yes, there’s a happy ending! The story is entertaining and suspenseful, thanks to the pressure from Weston’s father and the public. I also find the supporting characters remarkable.
I’ve now listened to the audiobook for the second time, and I really like the story because it kept me hooked from start to finish.
J.F. Harding absolutely nailed the audiobook! He manages to bring the emotions to life very authentically, whether it’s hatred, envy, anger, or budding romantic feelings, as well as warmth, desire, and love. And there were some very steamy scenes.
It was a pleasure to listen to this audiobook. The audiobook version is highly recommended!
