I’m a bit concerned to read some of the rather impolite reviews of this - I don’t know the author (and narrator) of this book, nor (I think) do I know the readers of the impolite reviews but the English in the book and the English in the reviews makes me think there’s a bit of sourness …….? Anyway, less about the unnamed and irrelevant, rather about the book…… it is beautifully written. Yes, it recounts as a lawyer should, a lifetime of experience, and truthfully tells the reader ‘why’ things are as they are in the legal system, and yes, it is properly written ensuring the law isn’t set out wrong. With respect to anyone criticising that, why read a book written by a lawyer? If you want non legal and non truth, without the eloquence, perhaps Sheldon, Taylor Bradford or Larsson is better for you. I’m one of 6 people I know, all of whom hale from different professions and walks of life, who have listened to this and all really appreciated it. But then none of us are begrudging and sour. Clearly “be kind” doesn’t just apply to judges Your Honour. As a person who reads and listens to so many books, without agenda I can say I thought this was brilliant. As I’m left with so many smart anecdotes that I hope it won’t be the author’s last work. I’d read it again.
