Summary

Paul manages an old-school plastics factory that has pivoted during the pandemic to making face masks and is now booming. Along comes Emily, the wayward daughter of an old friend, whom Paul hires to be his assistant, and she’s a sparkling force determined to prove her worth with the one chance she’s been given.

Imogen, a beautiful former acquaintance of Paul’s, also coincidently appears outside the factory, down on her luck and clearly full of ulterior motive. The masked truths of the women around him soon threaten to turn Paul’s quiet family life upside down.

Glad it was a freebie. It was short.
I liked it except the epilogue dragged on.
Felt sorry for young Emily and his wife Natalie.
I liked his character

This is not one of Caroline Overington's best books in my opinion, but it's ok.

It's set during the global pandemic & while it's not the most dynamic of plots, it's a good way to pass an afternoon while working.
Short & sweet, made a little shorter by increasing the play back speed!

Loved this and had a good ending . And not too long a listen. Worth a listen

Great listen

Decent enough from the Plus Catalogue - another of CO's lockdown Covid stories. Decent storyline, with some parts going into way too much detail in such a short story.
The ending was strange - despite all the time spent on this family dynamic, there was nothing to suggest the state of mind of this poor character (no spoilers) so the big explanation as to why really didn't sit well.
Not up to CO's usual standard.
Narration was good - though I think even he sounded surprised to be reading the last 30 minutes or so.

Good but a rushed over-explained ending
